Welcome to 2014!!! Happy New Year - may it be one full of vibrant health, creative inspiration, joy and abundance in every area of your life!
The beginning of the year inspires us for new beginnings - new calendars, goals, resolutions, diets, exercise routines, etc..
So, I have decided to challenge myself and others to take more inspired action this year!
How often do you find yourself reading about some exercise, activity or a project and thinking that it would be fun do try it but never actually getting around to doing it? I must confess, I skip the part where you actually take action way too often.
I am excited to introduce a monthly Inspiration-in-Action Creative Challenge. This challenge includes doing a fun "ARTsignment" which incorporates art, creativity and play to bring some positive action into our lives. I want this challenge will be creative, playful and fun!
I hope this creative challenge will help us to transform our inspiration into fun and creative, inspired action. Are you in?
Our First Creative Challenge is to give ourselves permission to add more things into our life that bring us joy or to stop those things that no longer serve us. We will create a physical and interactive reminder to remind ourselves daily that we give ourselves permission to take the inspired action.
December Creative Challenge - Permission Slips
First, we need to create a container for our Permission Slips - it can be a pretty bowl, a jar or a box. It can be decorated and embellished any way you like.
Next, take some small cards or strips of paper and write on them all the things you have been wanting to do for a long time but never found the time.
These could be very specific, tangible things like taking a walk, journaling, reading, playing a musical instrument, dancing, stretching, doing yoga or meditating. Additionally, you could write reminders and invitations to dream, simplify, celebrate, laugh, heal, let go, notice, breathe, ... etc. You can keep adding new Permission slips any time you feel inspired to add something new. If you like, you can draw or doodle on your permission slips to make them extra colorful and inspiring! Place them inside of your special container.
Now, we are ready to PLAY with our Permission Slips!
Alternatively, you can select a particular theme for each week or month of the year and practice giving yourself permission to be, do or have something during that entire week or a month. For example, in December I gave myself permission to Celebrate (my big and small accomplishments, the Holidays, the Family, The End of the Year, the Winter, etc..)
I hope you are inspired to participate in this challenge and share your success with me. I would love to see pictures of your Permission Slips and Containers, as well as, how giving yourself permission has effected your life.
Let's celebrate giving ourselves Permission to be do and have all the things we enjoy and deserve!

I found lots of inspiration for this challenge in Keri Smith's fun and creative book "Living Out Loud".
You can get some amazing permission-slip inspiration from this wonderfully illustrated book "Permission Slips .. For Your Heart and Soul" by my friend Patricia Mosca.
