“Have enough courage to trust love one more time and always one more time.” - Maya Angelou
Spring is in full swing and I love the beauty of the blooming flowers, bird songs and sunshine. The energy of re-birth is so exciting, inspiring and joyful!
Back in January, I picked the word of the year - a word that represented the energy of the coming year. The word TRUST came to mind and I trusted that it was the right one. Rather then trusting anything or anyone else - I knew that needed to trust myself.
For some reason, it is easy to place our trust outside of ourselves - the authorities, elders, professionals, all the "experts" out there. Yet, the biggest expert of our life - our self is often overlooked and doesn't receive much trust.
Trust is synonymous with inner knowing and usually comes from experience. For instance, we have no problem trusting that tomorrow the sun will rise and another day will come, that spring is on her way even though the snow may still be covering ground. We trust/know because we have seen and experienced these things many times before.
How do you trust something you have never experienced before? Like, trust that your new project will be successful, the new idea will be life-changing or the new relationship will be amazing?
Whatever new experience or a dream we are seeking - at the end we are looking for a state of being, a feeling. How do you want to feel when you reach that new level of success, start a perfect relationship or birth a new project? Do you want to feel free, elated, expanded, light, peaceful, joyful...?
Have you experienced any of these states of being before? I can bet that you have. And so, even though the particular circumstances may be different - the states of being are the same, they are not new. We know them and we can trust them.
The way to trusting new experiences in life is to feel the emotions, states of being we desire/seek from those new experiences. Then, we expand those feelings into the current reality. Imagining your desired outcome already achieved and experiencing the feelings you desire is a powerful way of creating.
Back to trusting ourselves - the hardest part ... I think, the way to inner trust is the same - trusting our emotions and states of being. If you are experiencing lightness, peace and love when the voice of inner wisdom leads you in a new direction - then it's definitely a way to go.
On the other hand, if you are feeling contracted, stuck, limited and anxious - that state of being is telling you not to move in a that particular direction.
But what about the fear? Our "reptilian" brain likes to kick in at the very moment we are ready to take a leap and lead us back into "safety". Fear likes to mobilize us into fight, paralyze us or help us to run away - the good ole fight, flee or freeze response. Which can be a great asset when we are in real danger but not so good when we are starting a new project. In addition, the very practical, logical left brain can rattle off many very convincing reasons why we should not ever start anything new or make any changes in our life. But it is the intuitive, creative, visionary right brain that must lead us there.
The way out of fear is to remember and enter the amazing state of expansion you have experienced before ... and trusting it's wisdom. Listen and start taking small steps in the new direction you are being lead. Along the way, listen carefully to the inner wisdom providing you with feedback. If you are consistently feeling constricted and heavy - maybe this is not a good direction to take right now. If you are feeling a little scared but also excited, exhilarated and alive - then trust yourself to lead you into the new dream.
The way of Trust is to be in touch with our feelings and states of being - which never lie.
In what are you placing your trust this year?
